Did you see in the news that this giant eyeball washed up on a beach in Florida? Imagine finding that thing on your morning walk!
They think it might be from a giant squid!

Let's make one! It's nearly Halloween after all.
You will need:
- Scissors.
- Coloured felt, I'm using white, blue and grey.
- Needle and thread.
- Stuffing.
- Pencil.
- Roll of tape or something round to draw around.
- A light coloured bead.
- Tape measure.
Step 1.
Draw around your round thing twice on the white felt.
Cut these shapes out.
Measure around the roll of tape or whatever you are using to find the circumference like in the picture below.
Cut out a length of white felt that is the same length or a little bigger than the circumference of your round thing.
My circumference was 12.5 inches, my felt wasn't long enough so I did two lengths of 6.5 inches and I'll sew them together to make the 12.5ish length.
Step 2.
Draw around the inside of your tape on the blue felt to get a slightly smaller circle.
Do this for the grey colour felt too.
Cut the grey circle a bit smaller again than the blue one.
Sew the grey circle on top of the blue one with little over stitches.
I sewed a few stitches to make a highlight but I later decided that it didn't stand out enough so I glued a bead on instead.
Sew the grey and blue circles on to one of the white circles using small over stitches again. If you are making a Halloween eyeball you could do the stitches in red to make it scary.
Step 3.
Sew together your two strips if you had to do them in two bits like me.
Lay the eyeball front on top of the end of the strip and start sewing with over stitch.
Here's what it looks like after a little way around. Work your way round slowly, don't try and match up the whole length at once, just stitch round slowly.
Half way there:
One edge done, here's what it looks like. Don't sew up the split where teh two ends of the strip meet yet as that's our stuffing hole.
Lay the eyeball front down and pop the other white circle on top like this:
Start to sew the other circle on in the same way you did the front one.
Nearly there! Here's what it should look like.
Stuff the stuffing in with a pencil through the hole we left.
Close up the hole with over stitch.
Glue on the bead as a highlight.
Done! You could use scary colours to make a Halloween eyeball and draw on it afterwards to make it even scarier!
Happy sewing!
Very unique item! Fun!
