Happy Easter holidays! Here's this week's tutorial, how to make this cute little bunny ear hair grip.
I took a picture of myself with it on my head in the bathroom mirror.
Here's how to make one...
You will need:
- Pink and white felt.
- Scissors.
- Pinking shears if you have them.
- Glue.
- Needle.
- White thread.
- A hair grip.
- Ooh and a pen or pencil.
Step 1.
Draw two circles on your white felt that are almost as long as your hair grip. I found that drawing round the bottom of my thread was about the right size.
Cut these circles out. Draw an ear shape on your white felt.
Cut that ear shape out and draw around it three times like in the picture below. Cut these out too so you have four ear shapes.
Draw two smaller ear shapes on the pink felt. Cut them out with pinking shears if you have them, if not normal scissors are fine.
Step 2.
Put two of the white ear shapes together and sew around the edge starting about 1cm up from the bottom the ear. Use over stitch and your matching white thread.
Have a look at the GETTING STARTED section at the top right of the blog if you are unsure how to start sewing.
Here's what they should look like:
Snip a slit in one of the white circles like this:
Glue the pink inner ears on to your sewn up white outer ears. Trim the bottom of the ears into points like in the picture below. This stops the clip from looking too bulky when you glue it together in a minute.
Step 3.
Pinch the bottoms of the ears together and thread your needle through both of them like this:
Stitch through them a few times so that they stay together.
Slot the bottoms of the ears through the slit in your white circle and open out the flaps on the underneath like a split pin.
Slide your grip on to the other circle and spread glue all over on top.
Squash the circle with the ears sticking through on top of the gluey circle.
When the glue is dry, use your needle and thread to stitch the ears in to a good position.
You're done!
Have a happy Easter everyone!
