Sewing Tuesday: Buur's Trousers.

Hello!
This week I'll show you how to make Buur's smart trousers. I used my star bracelet as a belt. Doesn't he look fancy!

You will need:

  • Some felt.
  • Thread to match your felt.
  • A needle.
  • Some pins.
  • Scissors.

Step 1.
Measuring.
Cut a piece of felt that measures from your toy's waist to his/her feet and about 2cm wider than your toy at each side.

Cut curves out of the felt like in the picture below. You can use a pen to draw the curve on one side first if you like. Cut that one side then fold the felt in half and follow the line to get the other side the same.
Start at the waist (1) and go down in a curve to where your toy's leg meets it's body (2).

You'll need two shapes like this. Pin the first shape on to some more felt and cut around it so that you have two. Here's the two shapes:

Step 2.
Sewing up. Have a look at GETTING STARTED up on the right side of the page if you need any help understanding how to sew.
Put the two pieces on top of each other and pin them together. Sew along the curves with over stitch. I drew a green line on my picture to show you where to sew.

Take out the pins. Open up your shape so that it looks like a tube. Flatten the tube so that the two seams you sewed are lined up on top of each other like in the picture below. It's tarting to look like some trousers!

Line up the edges that make up the inside of the leg like this:

Put some pins in to hold it. The green line on the picture below shows you where to sew. Use over stitch again.

Take out your pins and turn the trousers the right way round so that the stitches are on the inside.
You're done!

Here's the video where I learned to make these trousers:

Happy Sewing!
