Sewing Tuesday: Crazy doodle monster finger puppet

Hi folks!
This week I decided to make a crazy doodle monster finger puppet.
He's got crazy teeth. And a villainous hat.
If you'd like to design and make your own doodle monster puppet, here's how!

Exciting new feature!  Leave a comment on this tutorial telling me your idea for a name for my crazy doodle monster puppet and be in with a chance of winning him for your very own! I will select at random and announce next Sewing Tuesday who the winner is.

 You will need:

  • Pencil and scrap paper.
  • Coloured felt, any colour you'd like.
  • Scissors.
  • Pins.
  • Needle and thread to match your felt.
  • Glue.

Step 1.
  • First draw this basic shape on your scrap paper lots of times.
  • Then start doodling your monsters! Draw scary teeth and silly hair and bonkers eyes.
  • Decide which monster you like the best, I like this one. He looks like he'd be some kind of evil mastermind.

Step 2.
  • Draw around your finger like this on your paper, leave loads of room either side and at the top.

  • Cut out this shape and pin it on to double thickness felt.
  • Cut around the shape so that you get two body shapes the same size.
  • Separate them out.

Step 3.
  • Get your crazy doodle monster drawing and look at the details on his or her face.
  • Cut these shapes out of felt and glue them on to the monsters face.
  • I'm going to put the hat on later since it overlaps the edge of the monster's head and I don't want it getting stitches through it when I sew the body together.

  • Now it's time to sew your monster together, hooray!

  • Put the front part of the monster on top of the back part and put a pin through
  • Sew around the edge of the monster using over stitch.
  • We're nearly done!
Step 4.

  • If your monster has hair or a hat like mine, lay your monster on some paper and draw the hair or hat or eyeballs where you'd like them to go.
  • Cut these out then lay them on some felt as a template.
  • I cut out a back and a front for my hat and a white band to decorate it with.

  • Glue the hat or hair or eyeballs or whatever it is on to the monster where you want it.
  • If you have eyeballs on stalks, or any other kind of gangly bit, you might need to glue some card to the felt to make it strong enough to stand up.

You're done, woo!
Time to play with your monster! Or make a second one to be his friend.
Happy sewing! Don't forget to leave a comment to be in with a chance of winning!
Holly.
